2. Uzzah and the Ark

God gave specific instructions for the care of the Ark of the Covenant to assure it was treated with the highest reverence. In the time of Eli, the Philistines stole the ark of the covenant and were beset with many judgments, including the destruction of their idol Dagon, and the tumors of the people of Ashdod. Uzzah died when King David was attempting to move the Ark back to the tabernacle, when he touched it to steady it during transport.

3. David and Bathsheba

After David saw Bathsheba bathing though a window, he fell in love with her and initiated an affair. Bathsheba was married to Uriah the Hittite. When Bathsheba became pregnant, David arranged for the death of her husband. The punishment for this sin was the death of their firstborn. David and Bathsheba went on to have another child, Solomon, who became king after David.

4. Elisha's Curse

Shortly after Elijah was taken to heaven in the fiery chariot, Elisha was walking to Bethel. A group of children mocked Elisha, saying "Go on up, you baldhead!" Elisha cursed the children. Two she-bears came out of the wilderness and 42 children were mauled by the bears.

5. Sodom and Gomorrah

Before the cities were destroyed, the Lord and two angels visited Abraham. The Lord said, "The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin is so grievous that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me." The specific sins of Sodom and Gomorrah are not spelled out in Genesis. One specific sin of the Sodomite men was the practice of homosexual rape of visitors, as demonstrated in Genesis 19.

7. Onan's Sin

God strikes down Onan for a rather unusual sin.In the culture of the time, Onan was expected to father a child for Tamar, the wife of his deceased brother. The Bible says that "he spilled his semen on the ground to keep from producing offspring for his brother."
