1. The Serpent

The serpent talked to Eve in the Garden of Eden. It convinced Eve to eat the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Adam and Eve were then banished from the Garden of Eden. In the Book or Revelation (12:9, 12:15, 20:2), the serpent (the dragon) is identified as Satan.

2. The Donkey

After the Israelites had almost completed their 40 years of wandering, there is a second instance of an animal speaking in the Bible. On the road to King Balak, the angel of the Lord appeared three times in the path, preventing the donkey from moving forward. Each time Balak beat the donkey. The third time, the donkey spoke, "Am I not your own donkey, which you have always ridden to this day? Have I been in the habit of doing this to you?" Then Balaam saw the angel. God prevented Balaam from cursing the Israelites.

3. Frogs, Gnats, and Locusts

Three of the ten plagues against Pharaoh and the Egyptians involved infestations of animals.In addition to sending plagues of frogs, gnats, and locusts, God sent the following other plagues: the water to blood, livestock disease, boils, thunder and hail, darkness, death of the firstborn. Pharaoh finally relented with this last plague, when he lost his own firstborn son.

4. The Great Fish

God told Jonah to prophecy against the city of Ninevah because of its great sin. Instead of obeying God, Jonah boarded a boat sailing the opposite direction. God sent a storm to stop Jonah. the lot fell to Jonah, he confessed to the sailors, and they threw him overboard. A great fish swallowed Jonah. Jonah prays to God and after three days and nights, the great fish vomited Jonah out. Jonah obediently went to Ninevah and warned them, saying, "In forty days Nineveh will be overthrown". The king and people believed him and turned from their sin, preventing their destruction. Jonah 1

5. Sheep

Sheep are referenced over 500 times in the Bible. Many key Biblical figures are shepherds, including Abel, David, and the shepherds who came to see Jesus after his birth. Jesus makes many references to his role as the Great Shepherd. He is often called the "Lamb of God" by Christians; as lambs were sacrificed on the alter, Jesus was sacrificed on the cross.

6. The Leviathan

The leviathan is mentioned in Job 3:8, Job 41:1, 10, 12, Psalm 74:14, Psalm 104:26, and Isaiah 27:1. Biblical scholars are not sure what animal the leviathan was, but it is generally believed to have been a sea creature and may have been a whale. Creationist believe that it may have been a dinosaur. It is often depicted as a sea dragon in art. Job also references a Behemoth (40:17), which may have been a hippopotamus, elephant, or water buffalo.

7. A Dove

The Holy Spirit descended on Jesus in the form of a dove. Since that time, the Holy Spirit has been depicted in the form of a dove. The Holy Spirit is also depicted in other forms, very commonly as a Pentecostal fire.
